VGR 503

So January managed to get pretty busy right near the end there.  While Kevin is knee-deep in the dead and online CCG's, everybody else is getting irate about the kerfluffle that is the Nintendo Creators Program.  Hear our thoughts on this, along with other news of the week, and some cool music to boot!

Best stuff on the Net: Dev's Play feat. John Romero

There's no doubt that one of the father's of DOOM is probably one of the most respected figures in the gaming industry, at least back in the day.  There's something to be said about a small team that essentially revolutionizes an entire genre.  It's even more fascinating to hear some of the stories behind the creation of the game itself, level and game design, especially if you're a fan of the game itself. It's a multi-part series that is absolutely worth your time if you have fond memories of space marines fighting demons from hell.

Fallout: New Vegas Documentary Part 6

So the only defense I really have about not getting around to this series more often is the sheer amount of time it usually takes to capture, script, and edit each video ends up taking.  We're talking full-time job levels here.  Still, when I get pockets of time to work on it, it's always a joy.  Switching from 360 to PC is going to help with some future stuff.  Anyway, enjoy!

VGR 501

Trey takes over the drivers seat for this season as we (Kevin, Ryan and Izzy) start to dive into holiday news.  Games with sharks are fun, and everybody starts geeking out about Fallout.  We all managed to get in our fair share of gaming as well, thanks in large part to holiday sales.  News and Music as always, check it out.

Looking forward to 2015

Much has been said at various outlets about how satisfying a year 2014 was for the gamers and the industry as a whole.  While I'll wholeheartedly admit there was a lot of ugliness to be found last year (social issues, broken games, etc.), I tend to lean on the positive side for a lot of good releases as far as the year is concerned.  I don't think we've hit that sort of "next-gen" point that justifies the sale of new consoles and the like.  With perhaps the exception of Nintendo, the console scene doesn't have that first-parties don't have that "killer-app" the way something like Gears of War was when it hit the 360.

Guns with chainsaws: Apparently the high-water mark of gaming fidelity

I'm hopeful this gets turned around this year.  We have the odd sort of benefit of having a lot of games pushed back from 2014 into this year, leaving me hopeful that there will be even more to pick out.  So here is what I'm looking forward to seeing this year, as well as some wild speculation about what else could be down the road.
