Late to the Party: Heroes of the Storm (beta)

Price I paid: Free.
Available on: PC
Heroes of the Storm is currently in beta. Some things may change between now and release.

While League of Legends (League) is not the first MOBA, it is possibly the most popular one. So when trying to explain a new MOBA, it’s easier to explain how it is like and not like League. Heroes of the Storm (HotS), understands this well. They took the formula that made League the dominant MOBA, skinned it in their own IP, glued some extra parts on, shaved the corners off, and made it faster paced. If you have a team that can work together, you can enjoy that faster-paced gameplay. If not, then you can get steamrolled and listen to your teammates complain about it.

Staying on topic is for whimps

Weekend hangouts continue for the Fall!  What started out talking about upcoming first person shooters progresses into talks about PC's vs. consoles, nerfing lore, and a bunch of other lines of thought tagentially connected in some form.  All and all, and entertaining watch or listen with DJ, Kevin, Ryan, Miguel and Trey, so come hangout with us for a bit!

Lookin' Good - Champs: Battleground

MOBA's have become the new MMO for a lot of dev's when it comes to looking at what might be popular in the future.  Both DOTA and League of Legends have shown that this genre of game is not only popular but also wildly profitable as well.  Not surprisingly, a lot of devs also want to try to breakout the MOBA genre onto mobile and tablet platforms with games such as Solstice Arena and Arena of Heroes, with varying degrees of success.  For my money right now though, adding a dash of of Final Fantasy Tactics to the mix is making Champs: Battleground look like something worth getting in to.  Check out this build demo from IGN.
