It's been busy this week, with leaks and annoucements applenty. With any luck, this is foreshadowing quite the busy E3. If you missed some annoucements, analysis, or just cool things this week, here's a summary of some the nifty things I managed to dredge up.
Fallout 4 Trailer
This one has been more or less impossible to miss, but if your anything like me, it's hard to not have this one on repeat. Some shameless self promotion, but if you want a deeper dive and wild speculation into what the local Pixel Loadout staff think about our first look into Bethesda's new open world post-apocalypse simulator, then look no further.
Dark Souls III Leak
Early rumor status on this one, but those screenshots are looking pretty legit, not unlike the leak we saw for Project Beast before it became Bloodborne. We're not quite on yearly itterations of the Souls franchise like Call of Duty, but I do wonder what FROMSOFTWARE can bring to the table for this outting, and if it can manage to stand on it's own in the shadow of Bloodborne.
Another video about why Resident Evil 4 is so damn good.
I never knew Resident Evil 4 had dynamic difficulty. And that is totally the point. While much is made about organic difficulty and having a singular vision on how a game should be played, scaling a game to a player can have a powerful effect on a game's perception. This is just one of many factors that makes RE4 such a legendary game, but it's totally worth a closer look.
That weird article about Rock Band 4 Colin Campbell wrote for Polygon
Look, sometimes in this job you gotta cover games you don't really give a stuff about. I played some Guitar Hero ten years ago and I thought it was kinda stupid. This is not because rock star sims are stupid. It's a perfectly valid fantasy. It's just not my fantasy.
-Colin Campbell
This one has been generating a lot of discussion as of late. Is it just lazy writing? Or is it subtle satire and commentary on the state of previewing games and embargos? I don't know for certain where this falls, and without the context of something like judges week before E3, this one feels like it might be a little too inside-baseball for readers if it is indeed the latter. Let's label this as non-traditional to say the least.
XCOM 2 Trailer
This was a pretty big drop of something to see before E3 as well, but is probably getting swalloed up by all the hype for Fallout 4. IGN has some interesting details on the game, such as a future where the aliens win, and finally being able to get the jump on your foes. Couple this with fall release date and you can color me excited.
That's a few of the nifty things I gathered up. Anything cool that I missed? Let me know in the comments!
